Overview
The LEVER [BLS1_LT] (LEFT YOKE) is a handlebar-mounted brake lever and perch assembly engineered for electric scooters, e-bikes, mopeds, and light electric vehicles (LEVs). Installed on the left handlebar stem (typically controlling the rear drum or mechanical disc brake system), it acts as the primary manual actuator for cable-operated braking systems.
Constructed from die-cast high-strength aluminum alloy with a weather-resistant finish, this left brake yoke features an integrated cable adjustment barrel, pivot hinge, and micro-switch mounting point for brake cut-off sensors. Operating independently across 12V to 60V DC electric vehicle architectures, its ergonomic lever blade provides smooth, linear mechanical leverage and crisp return action under all riding conditions.
Key Features
- Left Handlebar Yoke Ergonomics: Form-fitted specifically for left-side 22mm (7/8") handlebar stems.
- Die-Cast Aluminum Construction: Durable alloy body resists bending, cracking, and impact damage during daily operation.
- Integrated Cable Barrel Adjuster: Built-in threaded adjuster enables tool-free fine-tuning of brake cable tension and lever free-play.
- Brake Switch Mount Port: Features integrated mounting slots to accept standard brake cut-off sensor switches (BSW series).
- Corrosion-Resistant Finish: Protective surface coating guards against rain, moisture, UV degradation, and road grime.

Suitable applications
Suitable Vehicle Types & Applications
- Electric Scooters & Mopeds: Primary left handlebar brake lever replacement for 48V–60V e-scooters with cable brakes.
- E-Bikes & Light LEVs: Heavy-duty brake lever and yoke for electric bicycles and commercial delivery two-wheelers.
- Personal & Fleet Repairs: Essential replacement unit for bent, snapped, or loose left brake lever assemblies.
- System & Electrical Compatibility
- Universal Mechanical Cables & Sensors: Fully compatible with standard 82-inch/52-inch mechanical brake cables and BSW brake cut-off sensors.
- Wide EV Sub-Circuits: Operates independently of electrical system voltage across 12V to 60V DC vehicle platforms.
How to use
1. Isolate Power & Remove Old Lever Assembly:
Turn off key ignition, trip the main DC circuit breaker, and back off the cable tension nut. Unhook the brake cable barrel end from the old left lever, disconnect the brake sensor switch, and unbolt the clamp from the handlebar.
Verification: Vehicle is completely unpowered and old lever assembly is freed from handlebar and cable.
2. Mount New Left Yoke to Handlebar:
Position the LEVER [BLS1_LT] (LEFT YOKE) onto the left 22mm handlebar stem and tighten the rear perch mounting bolt securely.
Verification: The perch sits firmly on the handlebar without twisting or slipping when pulled.
3. Connect Brake Cable & Sensor Switch:
Thread the mechanical brake cable inner wire through the barrel adjuster and seat the end nipple into the lever blade socket. Re-attach or screw in the brake cut-off sensor switch.
Verification: Cable nipple rests completely flush inside the lever socket with no binding or misalignment.
4. Adjust Cable Tension & Verify Operation:
Adjust the threaded barrel adjuster until the lever exhibits 10mm–15mm of initial free-play. Squeeze the lever firmly to test cable pull and ensure smooth, spring-loaded retraction upon release.
Verification: Squeezing the lever engages the brake mechanism immediately, and releasing allows the lever to snap back completely to its resting position.
Care and maintenance
Power Isolation: Always turn off ignition, trip main DC circuit breaker, and secure vehicle before servicing handlebar controls.
Pivot Lubrication: Periodically apply a drop of silicone spray or light machine oil to the main lever pivot pin to maintain smooth movement.
Tightness Checks: Inspect the perch clamp bolt regularly to ensure the yoke remains rigidly locked onto the handlebar stem.
Questions & answers
What is the primary function of the LEVER [BLS1_LT] (LEFT YOKE)?
It provides the manual hand interface to pull mechanical brake cables and engage the rear braking system.
Which handlebar side does this lever fit?
It is specifically designed for installation on the left 22mm (7/8") handlebar perch.
Does this lever support brake cut-off sensors?
Yes, it features integrated mounting ports for standard BSW electric motor cut-off sensor switches.
Is this lever compatible with hydraulic disc systems?
No, this is a mechanical cable-pull lever; hydraulic disc brake systems require a master cylinder disc pump assembly.
Which vehicles are compatible with this left yoke?
It is compatible with various electric scooters, e-bikes, mopeds, and utility LEVs using cable-actuated brakes.
How do I fix excessive slack in the brake lever?
Turn the integrated metal barrel adjuster outward on the yoke to take up inner wire slack until proper lever free-play is restored.
