Overview

The DISC PUMP [LEFT] is a handlebar-mounted hydraulic master cylinder assembly engineered for electric scooters, e-bikes, mopeds, and light electric vehicles (LEVs). Installed on the left side of the handlebar perch (typically controlling the rear or combined hydraulic disc brake system), it converts hand lever displacement into high fluid pressure inside the brake line.

Constructed from die-cast high-strength aluminum alloy with corrosion-resistant internal piston seals, this left master cylinder assembly features an integrated fluid reservoir, sight glass window, and brake lever perch. Operating independently across 12V to 60V DC vehicle architectures, its leak-proof, pressure-stable design ensures crisp, linear lever feedback and fade-resistant hydraulic actuation under all riding conditions.

Key Features

Left-Side Perch Ergonomics: Specifically engineered for left handlebar mounting (standard rear or combined hydraulic disc brake control).

Leak-Proof Internal Piston Seals: Precision-machined internal cylinder bore and oil-resistant seals prevent fluid pressure loss and weeping.

Integrated Reservoir & Sight Glass: Built-in fluid reservoir with clear sight glass allows easy monitoring of DOT brake fluid levels and condition.

Die-Cast Aluminum Construction: Durable alloy body dissipates heat rapidly and resists impact damage, corrosion, and high hydraulic pressure.

Standard Mirror Mount & Switch Port: Includes integrated rearview mirror mounting threads and a brake sensor switch port.

Suitable applications

Suitable Vehicle Types & Applications

Electric Scooters & Mopeds: Primary left handlebar master cylinder replacement for 48V–60V e-scooters with rear hydraulic disc brakes.

E-Bikes & Light LEVs: Durable hydraulic brake pump for electric bicycles and cargo delivery two-wheelers.

Personal & Fleet Repairs: Essential replacement unit for cracked, leaking, or spongy left brake master cylinders.

System & Electrical Compatibility

Universal Hydraulic Lines & Calipers: Fully compatible with standard DOT3/DOT4 hydraulic hose lines, banjo fittings, and disc brake calipers.

Wide EV Sub-Circuits: Operates independently of electrical system voltage across 12V to 60V DC vehicle platforms.

How to use

1. Isolate Power & Remove Damaged Left Master Cylinder:

Turn off the ignition, trip the main DC circuit breaker, and place a fluid catch tray under the left handlebar perch. Unbolt the hydraulic banjo line, allow fluid to drain, disconnect the brake sensor switch wire, and unclamp the old pump from the handlebar.

Verification: Vehicle is unpowered and the old left master cylinder is removed with zero residual line pressure.

2. Mount New Left Disc Pump to Handlebar:

Position the DISC PUMP [LEFT] onto the left 22mm handlebar stem and tighten the rear clamp bracket bolts securely.

Verification: The master cylinder sits firmly on the handlebar without twisting or interfering with grip switches.

3. Connect Hydraulic Hose & Sensor Wire:

Attach the hydraulic hose banjo fitting to the master cylinder fluid port using fresh copper crush washers on both sides of the banjo bolt. Connect the brake cut-off sensor wire plug.

Verification: Banjo fitting sits flush with copper crush washers compressed evenly, and sensor plug latches tightly.

4. Refill Fluid, Bleed Air & Verify Pressure:

Remove reservoir cap and fill with fresh DOT3 or DOT4 brake fluid. Open the caliper bleed valve and pump the left lever until all air bubbles are purged and fluid flows solid. Tighten bleed valve, top off fluid, and seal reservoir.

Verification: Squeezing the left brake lever yields immediate, firm resistance with zero spongy lever feel and no fluid leaks around banjo fittings or reservoir cap.

Care and maintenance

Power Isolation: Always turn off ignition, trip main DC circuit breaker, and secure vehicle before servicing hydraulic brake hardware.

Fluid Level Monitoring: Inspect fluid level weekly through the integrated reservoir sight glass window; top off with clean DOT fluid if level drops.

Seal & Port Inspection: Periodically check the piston boot and banjo fitting port for wetness, oil seepage, or dust build-up.

Questions & answers

What is the primary function of the DISC PUMP [LEFT]?

It generates hydraulic pressure when the left brake lever is pulled, forcing brake fluid down the line to engage the caliper.

Which handlebar side is this master cylinder designed for?

It is specifically designed for mounting on the left 22mm (7/8") handlebar perch.

What type of brake fluid should be used in this pump?

It is compatible with standard DOT3 and DOT4 hydraulic brake fluids.

Does the unit include a mirror mounting thread?

Yes, it features integrated standard M10 rearview mirror mounting threads on the body bracket.

Which vehicles can use this left disc pump?

It is compatible with electric scooters, e-bikes, mopeds, and light EVs equipped with left hydraulic disc brake systems.

Why is bleeding necessary after replacing the master cylinder?

Bleeding purges trapped air bubbles from the line and pump cylinder; air compresses under force and causes a dangerous, spongy lever feel.
