Overview

The DISC PAD [DP01 COMMON] is a high-friction replacement disc brake pad set engineered for electric scooters, e-bikes, mopeds, and light electric vehicles (LEVs). Installed inside front or rear hydraulic caliper assemblies, it grips the spinning disc rotor upon brake lever actuation to provide rapid, controlled deceleration.

Constructed from a durable organic composite friction compound bonded to a steel backing plate, the DP01 profile delivers high thermal resistance to prevent brake fade during repeated urban stops. Operating independently across 12V to 60V DC electric vehicle architectures, its low-noise, wear-resistant design offers smooth, progressive lever feedback across wet and dry riding conditions.

Key Features

  • Universal DP01 Common Fitment Profile: Standardized pad geometry designed to fit a wide array of popular electric scooter hydraulic calipers.
  • High-Friction Organic Composite: Advanced friction lining provides immediate bite torque and shorter stopping distances.
  • Thermal Fade Resistance: High heat dissipation formula resists glazing and pad fade during continuous stop-and-go riding.
  • Low Noise & Low Dust Formula: Smooth surface contact minimizes rotor squeal, chatter, and dust build-up on wheel rims.
  • Steel Backing Plate: Rigid alloy backing plate prevents pad flex and ensures even pressure distribution across the disc surface.

Suitable applications

Suitable Vehicle Types & Applications

  • Electric Scooters & Mopeds: Primary front or rear hydraulic disc brake pad replacement for 48V–60V e-scooters.
  • E-Bikes & Light LEVs: Durable brake pad set for electric bicycles, cargo bikes, and light mobility scooters.
  • Personal & Fleet Maintenance: Cost-effective replacement pads for daily workshop repairs and routine brake servicing.

System & Electrical Compatibility

  • Universal Hydraulic Calipers: Compatible with standard hydraulic calipers accepting DP01 pad geometry and matching rotor discs.
  • Wide EV Sub-Circuits: Operates independently of electrical system voltage across 12V to 60V DC vehicle platforms.

How to use

1. Isolate Power & Retract Caliper Pistons:

Turn off key ignition, trip main DC circuit breaker, and unbolt the caliper retaining bolts from the fork/swingarm. Carefully press the internal hydraulic pistons back into the caliper housing using a plastic pad spreader tool.

Verification: Vehicle is completely unpowered and caliper pistons are fully retracted into their bores.

2. Remove Worn Pads & Clean Caliper Interior:

Remove pad retaining pins or clips and slide out the old worn disc pads. Spray internal caliper housing and rotor disc with dedicated brake cleaner spray to remove road dust and grime.

Verification: Caliper interior and rotor disc surfaces are clean, dry, and free of oil or debris.

3. Install New DP01 Pads & Secure Pins:

Slide the new DISC PAD [DP01 COMMON] pair into the caliper body, ensuring the friction surfaces face inward toward the disc rotor. Reinsert retaining pins and secure safety split clips.

Verification: Both pads sit completely parallel and float freely along retaining pins without binding.

4. Reattach Caliper & Pump Lever Pressure:

Mount the caliper body back over the brake rotor disc and tighten mounting bolts. Pump the handlebar brake lever 3–4 times until hydraulic pressure builds up and pads seat against the rotor.

Verification: Squeezing brake lever yields immediate, firm resistance, and wheel rotates freely when lever is released.

Care and maintenance

Power Isolation: Always turn off ignition, trip main DC circuit breaker, and secure vehicle before servicing wheel or brake components.

Pad Thickness Inspection: Regularly check friction lining wear through the caliper inspection port; replace pads when lining thickness drops below 1.5mm.

Contamination Prevention: Keep grease, oil, and chain lubricants off the friction pads and rotor surface to avoid permanent pad glazing and brake slip.

Questions & answers

What is the primary function of the DISC PAD [DP01 COMMON]?

It provides mechanical friction against the spinning disc rotor to decelerate and stop the electric vehicle.

Which electric scooters use the DP01 pad profile?

The DP01 Common shape fits a wide variety of standard e-scooter, e-bike, and light EV hydraulic disc brake calipers.

How many pads are included in one set?

Each package includes 1 pair (2 matching pads) to service 1 hydraulic caliper assembly.

Are these pads suitable for both front and rear disc brakes?

Yes, as long as both front and rear calipers utilize the standardized DP01 pad housing geometry.

Why is it important to retract the pistons during installation?

Retracting the pistons creates necessary clearance for the thicker friction material of new, unworn brake pads to slide over the rotor.

When should I replace my disc brake pads?

Replace pads if friction lining thickness drops below 1.5mm, or if braking causes squeal and increased stopping distances.
