Overview
The BRAKE CABLE [NORMAL 82 INCH] is an extended-length mechanical control cable engineered for electric scooters, e-bikes, and light commercial electric vehicles (LEVs). Serving as the direct link between the handlebar brake lever and the rear drum brake assembly, it translates hand pressure into responsive stopping power along full vehicle frame spans.
Constructed from a multi-strand woven steel inner core housed inside a low-friction PVC outer sleeve, this 82-inch cable resists elongation, binding, and corrosion caused by rain and road dirt. Operating independently across 12V to 60V DC electric vehicle platforms, its flexible casing and pre-installed end barrel fittings allow smooth routing through tight under-deck frame channels without binding or lever stiffness.
Key Features
Extended 82-Inch Overall Length: Extra-long reach designed specifically for long-wheelbase electric scooters and rear brake hub connections.
Multi-Strand Steel Core: High-tensile steel inner wire resists stretching and snapping under hard emergency braking.
Low-Friction Outer Sheath: Protective PVC casing lined with internal friction reduction sleeve to ensure smooth lever return.
Corrosion & Weather-Resistant: Sealed outer jacket guards internal steel strands against water ingress, rust, and road grime.
Pre-Terminated Barrel Ends: Fitted with standard lever and actuator barrel nipples for quick plug-and-play installation.

Suitable applications
Suitable Vehicle Types & Applications
Long-Wheelbase Electric Scooters: Primary rear drum brake cable replacement for 48V–60V electric scooters requiring extended routing.
E-Bikes & Cargo LEVs: Mechanical brake line replacement for electric bicycles and utility delivery scooters.
Commercial E-Rickshaws & Fleets: Cost-effective brake cable replacement for commercial fleet maintenance.
System & Electrical Compatibility
Universal Drum Brake Levers: Compatible with standard mechanical handlebar brake levers and rear 110mm/130mm drum actuator arms.
Wide EV Sub-Circuits: Operates independently of electrical system voltage across 12V to 60V DC vehicle platforms.
How to use
1. Isolate Power & Remove Damaged Cable:Turn off key ignition, trip main DC circuit breaker, and loosen tension barrel nut at rear drum lever arm. Unhook barrel nipple from handlebar brake lever and pull old cable out from chassis frame tabs.
Verification: Vehicle is powered off and old brake cable is completely freed from all frame guides.
2. Route New Cable Through Frame Guides:
Thread the new BRAKE CABLE [NORMAL 82 INCH] along vehicle frame channels following original routing path, taking care to avoid sharp bends or hot motor/controller surfaces.
Verification: Cable outer housing sits loosely along chassis frame without tight kink points or binding.
3. Attach Lever & Actuator Cam Terminals:
Slot upper barrel nipple into handlebar brake lever perch and guide lower wire end into rear brake drum arm actuator slot.
Verification: Both cable terminal ends are fully seated in their respective lever and cam slots.
4. Adjust Cable Tension & Test Engagement:
Tighten rear barrel nut until hand lever exhibits 10mm–15mm of initial free-play. Squeeze brake lever firmly to verify rear wheel locks completely, then release to confirm wheel spins freely without drag.
Verification: Squeezing brake lever engages rear wheel firmly with short lever travel and smooth retraction.
Care and maintenance
Power Isolation: Always turn off ignition, trip main circuit breaker, and secure vehicle before inspecting or servicing control cables.
Cable Lubrication: Periodically drip a few drops of light machine oil or silicone lubricant down the inner sleeve to maintain smooth movement.
Fraying & Tension Inspection: Regularly check exposed wire ends at rear actuator for wire fraying or loosening, adjusting barrel nuts as needed.
Questions & answers
What is the primary function of the BRAKE CABLE [NORMAL 82 INCH]?
It mechanically transfers hand lever force to the rear drum brake assembly to decelerate and stop the vehicle.
What is the total length of this brake cable?
It has an overall length of 82 inches (approximately 208 cm), making it ideal for longer vehicle frames.
Which vehicles are compatible with an 82-inch brake cable?
It is compatible with long-wheelbase electric scooters, e-bikes, commercial e-rickshaws, and utility LEVs.
Can this cable be used for both front and rear brakes?
While primarily used for rear brake setups due to its extended 82-inch length, it can be used anywhere an 82-inch cable path is required.
How do I prevent the inner steel wire from rusting?
The PVC outer sleeve protects the wire; applying a light lubricant down the housing periodically prevents internal rust and friction.
When should a brake cable be replaced?
Replace the cable if hand lever travel feels stiff or sticky, if outer jacket splits, or if inner wire strands begin to fray.
