1.Isolate Power & Remove Wheel Assembly:

Turn off the key ignition, trip the main DC circuit breaker, and elevate the vehicle. Disconnect the brake tension cable, loosen the axle nut, and slide the wheel off to expose the 130mm brake drum backplate.

Verification: Wheel rotates freely with zero live electrical power present before proceeding.

2.Remove Worn Shoes & Clean Drum Interior:

Unhook the old return springs using brake pliers and detach worn shoes from the pivot pin and actuator cam. Clean internal drum surfaces and housing using a dedicated brake cleaner spray.

Verification: Hub drum interior is completely free of grease, brake dust, or scoring.

3.Install New 130mm Shoes & Springs:

Hook the included high-tension return springs into the eyelets of the new BRAKESHOE [WITH BOX 130MM] set. Fold the shoes in a V-shape, position them over the anchor pin and cam, and snap them flat into place.

Verification: Both brake shoes sit completely flush against the backplate and snap back evenly when the brake arm is rotated.

4.Reassemble Wheel & Adjust Cable Tension:

Mount the wheel back onto the axle, tighten the axle nut to torque specifications, and reconnect the brake cable. Adjust the tension barrel nut until the wheel spins freely without dragging.

Verification: Squeezing the brake lever engages the drum firmly with short lever travel, and releasing allows the wheel to spin freely.

Power Isolation: Always turn off the ignition, trip the main circuit breaker, and secure the vehicle before performing wheel or brake maintenance.

Contamination Prevention: Keep grease, oil, and chain lubricants off the friction surfaces and drum lining to avoid brake slippage.

Wear & Spring Inspection: Periodically inspect friction lining thickness and return spring tension; replace shoes if lining wears down below 1.5mm.
