1. Isolate Power & Remove Wheel Assembly:

Turn off the key ignition, trip the main DC circuit breaker, and elevate the vehicle. Disconnect the brake tension cable, loosen the axle nut, and slide the wheel off to expose the brake drum assembly.

Verification: Wheel rotates freely with zero live electrical power present before proceeding.

2. Remove Worn Shoes & Clean Drum Interior:

Unhook the old return springs using pliers and detach worn brake shoes from the pivot pin and actuator cam. Clean internal drum surfaces and housing using a dedicated brake cleaner spray.

Verification: Hub drum interior is completely free of grease, dust, or metal shavings.

3. Install New Imported Shoes & Springs:

Mount the wheel back onto the axle, tighten the axle nut to torque specifications, and reconnect the brake cable. Adjust the tension barrel nut until the wheel spins freely without drag.

Verification: Squeezing the brake lever engages the drum firmly with short lever travel, and releasing allows the wheel to spin freely.
