1. Isolate Power & Remove Wheel Assembly:

Turn off the key ignition, trip the main DC circuit breaker, and raise the vehicle. Loosen the wheel axle nut, disconnect the brake tension cable, and slide the wheel off the axle to expose the brake drum plate.

Verification: Wheel rotates completely free and zero electrical power is live before proceeding.

2. Remove Worn Brake Shoes & Clean Drum:

Unhook the old return springs using brake pliers and detach the worn shoes from the anchor pin and cam actuator. Clean internal drum lining and dust cover using a brake cleaner spray.

Verification: Hub drum interior is completely free of grease, dust, or metal shavings.

3. Install New 110mm Brake Shoes & Springs:

Hook the new high-tension return springs into the eyelets of the new BRAKESHOE [110MM BLACK/BLUE BOX] set. Fold the shoes in a V-shape, seat them over the pivot pin and brake cam, and snap them flat into position.

Verification: Both shoes rest completely flush against the backplate and spring back smoothly when the brake arm is rotated.

4. Reassemble Wheel & Adjust Cable Tension:

Reinstall the wheel onto the axle, tighten the main axle nut to manufacturer torque specifications, and reconnect the brake cable. Adjust cable tension barrel nut until wheel spins freely without dragging.

Verification: Squeezing the brake lever engages the drum firmly with short lever travel, and releasing the lever allows the wheel to spin freely.

Power Isolation: Always turn off the ignition, trip the main DC circuit breaker, and secure the vehicle before performing wheel or brake maintenance.

Contamination Protection: Keep oil, grease, and chain lubricants away from the friction shoe surfaces and drum lining to avoid brake slippage.

Wear & Cable Inspection: Regularly inspect shoe lining thickness; replace shoes if friction lining wears down below 1.5mm thickness or if return springs lose tension.
