Overview

The SENSOR SIDE STAND is a safety cut-off sensor module engineered for electric scooters, e-bikes, and commercial two-wheelers. Functioning as an automatic power interlock switch, this sensor detects when the side stand is deployed and immediately signals the motor controller to disable throttle input, preventing dangerous accidental acceleration while parked or idling.

Constructed from impact-resistant ABS plastic and durable metal mounting hardware, the sensor features an IP65 weather-resistant enclosure built to endure road spray, mud, dust, and continuous vibration. Designed for universal compatibility across 12V to 60V DC sub-circuits, it integrates smoothly into standard motor cut-off loops or brake-lever disengage circuits, providing immediate tactile and electrical response for safer everyday riding.

Key Features

  • Automatic Motor Cut-Off: Disables throttle responsiveness whenever the side stand is down, eliminating false starts and runaway vehicle risks.
  • IP65 Weather Resistance: Sealed sensor housing resists dust ingress, heavy rain spray, and ambient road grit for long-lasting outdoor reliability.
  • Wide Voltage Compatibility: Works reliably across standard 12V to 60V DC low-voltage safety loops and controller interlock lines.
  • High-Sensitivity Mechanism: Features immediate contact switching upon side stand deployment for precise, delay-free signal trigger.
  • Durable Enclosure & Copper Leads: Reinforced plastic/metal housing with pre-wired insulated copper harness protects against physical impact and chassis vibration.

Suitable applications

Suitable Vehicle Types & Applications

  • Electric Scooters & E-Bikes: Primary safety cut-off sensor replacement or upgrade for modern electric two-wheelers.
  • Commercial Delivery EVs & E-Loaders: Essential safety switch for commercial fleets requiring automatic motor lockout during frequent parking stops.
  • Custom EV Conversions & Retrofits: Integrates easily into aftermarket builds needing standard side stand safety interlocks.

System & Electrical Compatibility

  • Wide 12V–60V DC Sub-Circuits: Connects directly into motor controller brake-cut / high-low brake inhibit lines or 12V–60V ignition interlock loops.
  • Universal Frame Mounts: Mounts to standard side stand pivot assemblies on modern EV chassis frames.

How to use

1. Isolate Power & Expose Wiring Connector:

Turn off the key ignition, trip the main DC circuit breaker, and disconnect the main battery pack terminals. Access the side stand pivot area and locate the motor cut-off harness wire running to the controller.

Verification: Verify with a multimeter that zero voltage is present across the target wiring harness.

2. Mount Sensor to Side Stand Frame:

Position the SENSOR SIDE STAND assembly onto the mounting tab near the side stand pivot joint. Secure the unit firmly using the included bolt and washer set.

Verification: Move the side stand up and down to ensure the sensor actuator aligns cleanly with the stand arm without mechanical binding or interference.

3. Connect Wiring Harness:

Route the 30cm insulated copper wire lead along the frame away from moving parts. Plug the connector into the controller's dedicated side stand / brake cut-off harness plug, or wire it in series with the low-voltage safety loop.

Verification: Connections are firmly seated and fully sealed against water intrusion with heat-shrink tubing or insulating tape.

4. Reconnect Power & Test Cut-Off Safety:

Reconnect the main battery leads, reset the circuit breaker, and turn the key ignition to ON. Perform safety tests:

Stand Down: Twist the throttle and verify that the motor does NOT engage.

Stand Up: Twist the throttle and confirm smooth motor acceleration.

Verification: Motor cuts power instantly the moment the side stand is kicked down, and restores throttle response immediately when retracted.

Care and maintenance

Power Isolation: Always turn off the key ignition, trip the main DC circuit breaker, and disconnect the battery pack before inspecting or servicing sensor wiring to avoid short circuits.

Physical & Actuator Check: Periodically check the sensor body, bracket bolts, and actuator arm to ensure the unit remains securely mounted and free from bent metal or packed mud.

Harness & Seal Integrity: Inspect the pre-wired copper harness and IP65 seals regularly to ensure insulation remains intact and free from wire pinching or water corrosion.

Questions & answers
