Overview

The SWITCH [IND-NEW] is a high-precision, 3-position indicator control switch engineered specifically for modern electric two-wheelers, e-scooters, and commercial e-rickshaws. Designed as an upgraded handlebar control module, this unit allows riders to reliably toggle between left turn, right turn, and center-neutral signaling states across standard 12V to 60V DC vehicle power systems.

Constructed with an impact-resistant ABS plastic housing and low-resistance copper alloy contacts, the switch is built to endure continuous daily toggling, heavy road vibration, and outdoor weather exposure. Its streamlined, ergonomic body integrates directly into modern 22mm (7/8-inch) handlebar switch clusters, restoring positive tactile detents and dependable directional signaling for safe city and commercial navigation.

Key Features

  • 3-Position Directional Toggle: Positive center-detent mechanism for Left Turn, Off (Center), and Right Turn operation with distinct tactile feedback.
  • Modern Handlebar Fitment: Compact, low-profile housing tailored to fit updated e-scooter and e-rickshaw handlebar switch assemblies without modification.
  • High-Conductivity Copper Terminals: Heavy-duty internal copper contacts minimize voltage drop, ensuring consistent current delivery to indicator flasher relays and LED/halogen signal lamps.
  • Wide Voltage Compatibility: Fully operational across auxiliary and lighting circuits running from 12V DC up to 60V DC.
  • Weather-Resistant Build: Encased in a splash-proof ABS outer shell to protect internal components from rain, dust, and continuous road use.

Suitable applications

Suitable Vehicle Types & Applications

  • Modern Electric Scooters & E-Bikes: Primary turn signal switch module replacement for modern 3-state directional assemblies on electric two-wheelers.
  • Commercial E-Rickshaws & L3/L5 Vehicles: Heavy-duty indicator selector designed to withstand frequent daily toggling by commercial drivers in dense traffic.
  • Custom EV Conversions & Auxiliary Lighting: Compact 3-position toggle switch for custom directional signal builds, dual auxiliary circuit switching, or aftermarket turn indicator kits.

System & Electrical Compatibility

  • Wide 12V–60V DC Sub-Circuits: Integrates into turning signal power loops fed by 12V DC flasher units, high-voltage DC-DC converters, or direct 12V–60V DC battery sub-buses.
  • Universal 3-Wire Flasher Systems: Plugs into standard 3-wire directional circuits (Main Flasher Input, Left Output, and Right Output).
  • Modern Handlebar Panel Cut-Outs: Fits modern 22mm (7/8-inch) handlebar switch cluster cut-outs with a secure panel-clip fitment.

How to use

1. Isolate Power & Remove Handlebar Fairing:

Turn off the key ignition switch, trip the main DC circuit breaker, and disconnect the main battery pack terminals. Unfasten the retaining screws on the handlebar housing to expose the inner switch panel and directional wiring harness.

Verification: Turn the ignition key back on to verify that the instrument cluster, horn, and light circuits remain completely unpowered.

2. Remove Legacy Indicator Switch:

Unplug the 3-pin wiring harness connected to the back of the legacy indicator switch. Depress the side retention clips or loosen the panel mounting screws to slide the old unit out of the 22mm (7/8-inch) handlebar slot.

Verification: The old switch releases freely without cracking or warping the plastic handlebar cover.

3. Seat & Wire SWITCH [IND-NEW]:

Push the SWITCH [IND-NEW] unit firmly into the 22mm panel cutout until the side locking clips snap securely into place. Connect the three pre-wired copper terminal leads to the turn signal circuit harness:

Main Flasher Input Lead: Connect to the +12V–60V DC output wire coming from the indicator flasher relay.

Left Indicator Lead: Connect to the left turn signal lamp harness.

Right Indicator Lead: Connect to the right turn signal lamp harness.

Verification: All wire connectors are firmly seated and fully covered with electrical insulation tape or heat-shrink tubing to prevent exposed bare copper.

4. Reconnect Power & Test Directional Signals:

Reconnect the main battery leads, reset the circuit breaker, and turn the key ignition to ON. Test all three switch states:

Toggle Left: Confirm the left turn signal lights (front and rear) flash consistently.

Toggle Center (OFF): Confirm all indicator lights turn off immediately.

Toggle Right: Confirm the right turn signal lights flash consistently.

Verification: Both turn signals flash smoothly in their respective toggle positions with zero flickering or delays.

Care and maintenance

  • Power Isolation: Always turn off the key ignition, trip the main breaker, and disconnect the battery pack before servicing indicator wiring to prevent short circuits.
  • Housing Inspection: Periodically check the weather-resistant ABS shell for cracks, loose mounting, or physical wear to keep out water and preserve smooth detent operation.
  • Terminal Integrity: Inspect the pre-wired copper terminal leads regularly to ensure tight connections, continuous insulation coverage, and complete freedom from corrosion.
  • Signal Verification: Cycle the indicator switch through Left, OFF, and Right positions periodically to confirm instant contact engagement and continuous flasher operation.
