Overview

The SWITCH [HORN-NEW] is a high-response, momentary push-button horn switch engineered specifically for modern electric two-wheelers, e-scooters, and commercial e-rickshaws. Designed as an upgraded, tactile replacement for handlebar horn controls, this module provides instant acoustic signaling capability to ensure safe urban maneuvering across standard 12V to 60V DC vehicle power lines.

Constructed with an impact-resistant ABS plastic housing and low-resistance copper alloy contacts, the switch is built to endure continuous daily press cycles and outdoor environmental exposure. Its sleek, contemporary design integrates directly into modern 22mm (7/8-inch) handlebar switch clusters, restoring clean tactile engagement and immediate horn activation.

Key Features

  • Momentary Push-Button Action: Spring-loaded mechanism instantly engages the horn when depressed and automatically resets upon release.
  • Modern Handlebar Fitment: Streamlined profile tailored to fit updated e-scooter and e-rickshaw handlebar control panels without modification.
  • High-Conductivity Copper Terminals: Heavy-duty internal contacts prevent arc pitting and deliver maximum voltage directly to the acoustic horn coil.
  • Wide Voltage Range: Fully operational across auxiliary power supplies ranging from 12V DC up to 60V DC.
  • Weather-Resistant Build: Encased in a splash-proof ABS outer shell to protect internal contacts from rain, dust, and road grime.

2x Integrated Copper Wire Contacts (pre-wired terminal leads for direct connection to the vehicle power feed and acoustic horn circuit)

Suitable applications

Suitable Vehicle Types & Applications

  • Modern Electric Scooters & E-Bikes: Primary horn push-button replacement for contemporary handlebar assemblies on electric two-wheelers.
  • Commercial E-Rickshaws & L3/L5 Vehicles: High-durability horn switch module built for frequent daily operation by commercial drivers.
  • Custom EV Conversions & Auxiliary Circuits: Easy-to-integrate momentary switch for custom horn setups, momentary relay triggering, or auxiliary signaling circuits on DIY electric platforms.

System & Electrical Compatibility

  • Wide 12V–60V DC Sub-Circuits: Drives horn circuits running off standard 12V DC to 60V DC step-down converters or battery sub-bus feeds.
  • Universal 2-Wire Harnesses: Pre-wired copper contacts connect into standard 2-wire acoustic horn control loops.
  • Modern Handlebar Panel Cut-Outs: Contoured clip-in base fits standard modern 22mm (7/8-inch) handlebar switch housings.

How to use

1. Isolate Auxiliary Power & Open Handlebar Cover:

Turn off the key ignition, trip the main breaker, and disconnect the main battery leads. Remove the retaining screws securing the handlebar fairing to open the switch enclosure and access the internal wiring harness.

Verification: Vehicle cluster lights and auxiliary circuits remain completely unpowered when toggling controls.

2. Disconnect Old Horn Switch:

Unplug the old horn switch terminals from the vehicle loom. Press the side retaining tabs or unfasten the mounting clips to detach the switch module from the 22mm (7/8-inch) handlebar panel slot.

Verification: The switch releases smoothly without cracking or damaging the surrounding plastic fairing tabs.

3. Seat & Wire SWITCH [HORN-NEW]:

Press the SWITCH [HORN-NEW] unit into the handlebar panel cutout until it snaps securely into place. Connect the two integrated copper terminal leads to the vehicle horn control circuit:

Power Input Lead: Connect to the +12V–60V DC feed wire coming from the auxiliary power loop.

Signal Output Lead: Connect to the positive terminal lead of the acoustic horn module.

Verification: Wiring connectors are firmly connected and thoroughly insulated with electrical tape or heat-shrink tubing without exposing bare copper wire.

4. Reconnect Power & Test Horn Operation:

Reconnect the battery pack, reset the main breaker, and switch the ignition ON. Press and release the horn button to verify functional acoustic engagement.

Verification: The horn sounds clearly immediately upon depressing the button and stops instantly when the button is released.

Care and maintenance

Power Isolation: Always switch off the key ignition, trip the primary DC circuit breaker, and disconnect the main battery pack before touching any switch wiring to avoid accidental arcing.

Housing & Button Inspection: Periodically check the weather-resistant ABS body and push-button assembly for cracks, play, or mechanical binding to prevent water ingress and preserve smooth spring-return action.

Terminal Integrity: Inspect the pre-wired copper terminal leads regularly to ensure secure connections, continuous wire insulation, and total freedom from corrosion or road grime.

Acoustic Functionality: Periodically test the momentary push button with the acoustic horn to ensure zero contact resistance, zero voltage drop, and immediate sound activation upon depressing the switch.
