Overview

The SWITCH [HORN-OLD] is a robust, heavy-duty momentary push-button switch designed for electric two-wheelers, e-bikes, and e-rickshaws featuring classical handlebar assembly designs. Engineered as a direct replacement for vintage and legacy electric vehicle switch housings, this component restores crisp tactile control and instantaneous electrical contact for activating 12V–60V DC vehicle horns and sound alerts.

Constructed from impact-resistant ABS polymer and fitted with high-conductivity copper alloy internal contacts, the 0539 model delivers reliable spring-back operation and resistance against mechanical wear. Its standard retro-style casing fits directly into classic EV handlebar switch clusters, providing a secure, weather-resistant connection point that withstands daily commutes and varied road vibrations.

Key Features

Legacy Handlebar Design: Precision-molded retro body profile tailored for direct drop-in replacement on older e-scooter and e-rickshaw handlebar control panels.

Momentary Contact Action: Spring-loaded push mechanism provides immediate signal activation and crisp release feedback.

High-Conductivity Terminals: Internally routed copper alloy contacts ensure minimal resistance and dependable current delivery to low-power sound systems.

Broad Voltage Compatibility: Safely manages auxiliary lighting and signal trigger loads across 12V to 60V DC sub-circuits.

Durable & Weather-Resistant: Built with a rugged ABS outer shell designed to resist UV degradation, dirt accumulation, and splash water exposure.

Suitable applications

Suitable Vehicle Types & Applications

Classic Electric Scooters & Vintage E-Bikes: Direct retrofit for traditional handlebar switch assemblies on legacy e-scooters and vintage electric two-wheelers.

Commercial E-Rickshaws & L3/L5 Mobility: Durable, heavy-duty horn push-button replacement designed for high-frequency daily use by commercial drivers.

Custom EV Conversions & Prototypes: Easy-to-mount tactile control button for custom horn circuits, light triggers, or relay signaling in DIY electric vehicles.

System & Electrical Compatibility

Wide 12V–60V DC Sub-Circuits: Manages auxiliary horn trigger loads directly from standard 12V DC to 60V DC onboard converter outputs.

Universal 2-Wire Harnesses: Pre-wired high-conductivity copper leads connect directly into standard 2-wire horn signaling looms.

Legacy Handlebar Fairing Mounts: Custom-contoured base fits seamlessly into classic 22mm (7/8-inch) handlebar switch housings without fairing modification.

How to use

1. Isolate Auxiliary Power & Access Switch Assembly:

Turn off the ignition key, trip the main DC circuit breaker, and disconnect the main battery pack terminals. Remove the screws securing the front handlebar housing or fairing shroud to expose the inner switch mounting bracket and wiring harness.

Verification: The vehicle instrument cluster and lights remain unpowered when toggling switches.

2. Disconnect Old Switch & Unmount Base:

Unplug the old horn switch terminals from the vehicle's signal loom. Press the retention clips or loosen the mounting screws to detach the legacy horn switch module from the handlebar housing cut-out.

Verification: The old switch releases smoothly without damaging or snapping the surrounding plastic mounting tabs.

3. Mount SWITCH [HORN-OLD] (0539) & Wire Terminals:

Snap or fasten the SWITCH [HORN-OLD] (0539) unit securely into the handlebar housing slot. Connect the two integrated copper leads to the corresponding positive auxiliary feed line and horn signal return wire.

Verification: Connectors are fully seated and insulated with electrical tape or heat-shrink tubing without exposing bare copper wire.

4. Reconnect Power & Perform Functional Test:

Reconnect the main battery terminals, reset the main circuit breaker, and turn the ignition switch ON. Press the newly installed push-button to test the horn response, then release it.

Verification: The horn sounds crisp and loud immediately upon pressing the button, and cuts off instantly the moment the button is released.

Care and maintenance

Safety & Inspection: Always switch off the ignition and disconnect the battery pack before performing any physical checks on the switch assembly.

Mechanical Care: Periodically clean dirt and road dust from around the push-button gap using a soft brush to prevent sticking or jammed contacts.

Terminal Integrity: Check the copper wire harness connections periodically to ensure they remain tightly fastened and free from corrosion or water ingress.
