PLS ES Electric Scooter Throttle

The TROTL [PLS SINGLE PUSH] is a high-reliability, standard twist-grip throttle designed for precise speed control across light electric vehicles. Built for direct mechanical operation without extra switches or complex controls, it delivers proportional acceleration in a streamlined, user-friendly package.

Using a contact-free linear Hall-effect magnetic sensor, it converts rotational motion into a smooth 0.8V–4.2V signal for step-free motor response. It supports a wide operating voltage spectrum (24V up to 72V DC), making it a versatile choice for direct OEM replacements, repairs, or DIY electric vehicle builds.

1. Power Down Vehicle & Clean Handlebar Tube:

Turn off the vehicle ignition, trip the main DC circuit breaker, and completely disconnect the main battery pack. Loosen the clamp bolt on the existing throttle assembly, slide it off the handlebar, and wipe down the exposed metal tube to remove grease, dirt, and surface residue.

Verification: The main vehicle instrument panel remains dark, and the 22mm handlebar mounting surface is smooth and clean.

2. Mount the PLS Single Push Throttle Unit:

Slide the Single Push throttle assembly onto the right side of the standard 22mm handlebar. Position the unit so the twist grip turns freely without binding against the brake lever assembly, then firmly tighten the clamp screw underneath.

Verification: The throttle grip body is tightly secured to the handlebar and does not rotate or slide when twisted.

3. Connect 3-Pin Main Throttle Harness:

Align and connect the standard 3-pin output connector to your motor controller's throttle input port, matching the wire color pins correctly:

Red Wire: +5V Regulated Power Supply

Black Wire: Ground (GND)

Green Wire: Throttle Signal Output (0.8V–4.2V)

Verification: The 3-pin connector latches together securely without loose terminal pins or exposed wire strands.

4. Route Cable & Verify Spring Return Mechanism:

Route the 12-inch wiring harness along the frame toward the controller box, securing it with zip ties. Ensure enough line slack around the steering neck so turning handlebars fully left and right does not pull or tension the cable.

Verification: Twisting the throttle grip operates smoothly across its full rotation and automatically snaps back to the zero-speed position upon release.

5. Power On & Test Acceleration Response:

Safely elevate the driven wheel off the ground using the center stand or block. Reconnect the battery, turn on vehicle power, and gently twist the throttle to verify proportional motor acceleration and smooth speed modulation.

Verification: Drive wheel accelerates smoothly in proportion to twist rotation and stops spinning immediately when the grip is released.

The TROTL [PLS SINGLE PUSH] is built with a sealed housing to protect internal components from dirt, dust, and light moisture. Keep the exterior grip clean by regularly wiping it down with a damp cloth, avoiding direct high-pressure water around cable entry points or seam joints. Periodically inspect the 12-inch wiring cable for signs of rubbing, tension, or insulation wear along the handlebar frame. Check the underside mounting clamp screw routinely to ensure the unit stays firmly locked onto the 22mm handlebar, and verify that the twist-grip mechanism snaps back instantly to the zero-speed position when released. Always disconnect the main battery before performing any electrical maintenance or inspection.
