Overview
The TROTL (WATER-PRF) [WP 123+R] is an all-weather, high-durability throttle assembly engineered specifically for electric vehicles operating in wet, harsh, or high-humidity environments. Designed with an IP65-rated waterproof enclosure, this throttle prevents water ingress and dust accumulation from compromising internal electronic switches and signal circuitry.
Equipped with a 3-speed mode selector and an integrated reverse button, it gives riders complete operational control over performance outputs and vehicle direction. Built with a responsive Hall-effect mechanism, it ensures linear, jitter-free acceleration across wide system voltage ranges from 12V up to 72V DC, making it an ideal upgrade for commuter e-scooters, commercial delivery e-trikes, and custom all-weather EV builds.
Key Features
- IP65 Waterproof Enclosure: Fully sealed housing protects internal Hall sensors, wiring, and micro-switches from rain, road spray, and dust.
- Integrated 3-Speed Selector: Allows on-the-fly toggle between low, medium, and high power modes to balance speed demands with battery conservation.
- Dedicated Reverse Gear Function: Built-in push-button reverse simplifies maneuvering in tight spaces, heavy urban traffic, or parking scenarios.
- Wide Voltage Range (12V–72V): Broad compatibility across low-voltage utility platforms through to 72V high-performance traction systems.
- Ergonomic Anti-Slip Grip: Textured rubber/composite surface ensures firm grip, precise control, and reduced wrist strain during extended rides.

How to use
1. Power Down System & Prepare Handlebar:
Switch off the ignition, trip the main circuit breaker (MCB), and disconnect the main battery pack. Loosen the set screws on the existing throttle grip, slide it off the handlebar, and clean any dirt or residual grip adhesive off the metal tube.
Verification: The instrument cluster remains completely unpowered, and the handlebar tube surface is clean and smooth.
2. Mount the WP 123+R Throttle Assembly:
Slide the WP 123+R waterproof throttle unit onto the right 22mm handlebar tube. Adjust the angle so the 3-speed selector and reverse button are easily accessible by your thumb, then securely tighten the underside mounting clamp bolt.
Verification: The throttle body sits firmly on the handlebar without slipping or twisting when force is applied.
3. Connect Primary Throttle Signal (3-Pin Waterproof Harness):
Align the notch guidelines on the 3-pin main throttle connector and plug it into the controller's throttle output harness. Match the terminal functions:
Red: +5V Power Supply
Black: Ground (GND)
Green: Throttle Signal Output (0.8V–4.2V)
Verification: The waterproof connector collar snaps or threads together completely, leaving no exposed copper or rubber gap.
4. Connect Auxiliary 3-Speed & Reverse Switch Wiring:
Connect the remaining leads from the 1.5m harness to the corresponding controller feature ports:
3-Speed Selector: Plug the 3-pin auxiliary speed-limit connector into the controller's High/Med/Low speed terminal block.
Reverse Switch: Plug the 2-pin reverse leads into the controller's reverse logic input connector.
Verification: All connectors click firmly into place and are positioned within the weather-protected chassis area.
5. Secure Wire Routing & Test Mechanical Spring Return:
Route the 1.5m cable cleanly along the frame towards the controller box, securing it with zip ties. Ensure adequate slack around the steering head to prevent wire tension when turning the handlebars fully left or right.
Verification: The throttle grip rotates smoothly through its entire range and snaps back immediately to the zero-speed position when released.
6. Power On & Verify All Weather Functions:
Elevate the drive wheel off the ground using the main center stand. Reconnect the battery, turn on the vehicle power, and test operation: confirm smooth acceleration, switch between Speed 1, 2, and 3 to verify speed limits, and press the Reverse button to verify reverse wheel rotation.
Verification: The motor responds predictably across all 3 speed modes and reverses direction only when the reverse switch is engaged.
Care and maintenance
The TROTL (WATER-PRF) [WP 123+R] features an IP65-rated sealed housing designed to protect internal Hall-effect sensors and micro-switches from rain, dust, and road spray. Inspect the 1.5-meter wiring harness and waterproof connector collars regularly for loose fittings, chafed insulation, or moisture ingress. Keep the throttle housing and grip clean using a soft, damp cloth, avoiding high-pressure water jets directly aimed at the cable entry point. Ensure the twist grip operates smoothly through its full rotational travel and snaps back automatically to zero throttle when released. Routinely check the underside mounting clamp torque to prevent the assembly from slipping on the 22mm handlebar during operation. Always disconnect the main battery before performing maintenance to protect the controller's logic circuit.
