Overview
The 10-Inch 1000W Drum Electric Scooter Motor is a high-performance Brushless DC (BLDC) hub motor designed to deliver exceptional power, high torque output, and smooth acceleration for electric two-wheelers. Built as an all-in-one wheel hub solution, this motor features an integrated drum brake system that ensures responsive, reliable stopping power without requiring external disc caliper assemblies.
Engineered with high-grade copper windings and durable aluminum alloy housing, the 018c motor operates across a broad 48V to 60V DC system range. It delivers speeds up to 50 km/h with an operational conversion efficiency of $\ge 85\%$, making it an ideal choice for high-speed electric scooters, heavy-duty delivery two-wheelers, light e-rickshaws, and custom EV conversions.

How to use
High-Voltage & Mechanical Safety Warning
Disconnect the main battery power and switch off the circuit breaker before beginning work. High-voltage DC (48V–60V) can cause severe arcing and electrical shorting. Ensure the vehicle is stabilized on a central stand before servicing the motor wheel hub.
1. Isolate Power & Secure Scooter:
Place the electric scooter on its main center stand so the rear wheel clears the ground completely. Switch off the ignition, turn off the main circuit breaker (MCB), and disconnect the main battery pack connector.
Verification: The vehicle display screen is unlit and the motor does not respond when twisting the throttle.
2. Disconnect Motor Phase Wires & Hall Sensor Harness:
Trace the motor cable running from the hub to the motor controller. Unbolt the three heavy-duty phase wires (Yellow, Green, Blue) from the controller junction block and unplug the 5-pin Hall sensor plastic connector.
Verification: All motor electrical wires are fully detached from the vehicle's main wiring harness and controller.
3. Disconnect Drum Brake Cable Assembly:
Loosen the cable pinch bolt on the drum brake arm located on the side of the motor wheel hub. Slide the inner brake cable out of the anchor arm and remove the return spring and adjustment nut.
Verification: The brake cable moves freely from the drum brake lever plate without binding.
4. Unbolt Axle Nuts & Remove Old Motor Wheel:
Use a socket wrench to unscrew the main axle nuts and lock washers on both sides of the rear swingarm. Carefully slide the axle locking plates off and lift the rear motor wheel out of the swingarm dropouts.
Verification: The swingarm dropouts are empty and free of debris, threads, or burrs.
5. Mount 1000W Drum Hub Motor (018c) & Connect Brake:
Fit the tubeless tire onto the new 018c motor rim, set the internal drum brake shoe plate into position, and slide the motor axle into the rear swingarm dropouts. Fasten the axle locking washers and torque down the axle nuts securely on both sides. Reattach and adjust the mechanical brake cable.
Verification: The wheel spins smoothly by hand without rubbing the swingarm, and pulling the brake lever stops the wheel instantly.
6 . Wire Phase & Hall Cable Harness to Controller:
Route the motor cable along the frame, ensuring it is clear of the rotating wheel rim. Connect the phase wires (Yellow to Yellow, Green to Green, Blue to Blue) and plug the Hall sensor connector firmly into the matching controller port.
Verification: Connectors are locked tight, insulated with heat-shrink or terminal caps, and secured with zip ties to avoid wheel contact.
7. Reconnect Battery & Perform Rotation Test:
Reconnect the main battery, flip the MCB back on, and turn on the ignition switch. Elevate the rear wheel and gently twist the throttle to check rotation direction and throttle responsiveness.
Verification: The rear motor wheel spins forward silently and smoothly, reaching up to ~50 km/h under no-load testing.
Care and maintenance
1. Cleaning & Enclosure Care
Remove Road Debris: Clean mud, dust, and road grime from the exterior aluminum hub housing using a damp cloth. A clean housing ensures optimal surface heat dissipation.
Avoid Pressure Washing: Never spray high-pressure water directly at the axle seals, wire entry points, or drum brake plate. High pressure can breach weather seals, forcing moisture inside the motor casing and leading to rust or Hall sensor corrosion.
2. Wiring & Cable Inspection
Check Cable Integrity: Inspect the motor cable leading out of the axle every few months. Ensure the insulation is intact and hasn't rubbed against the swingarm or rear tire.
Inspect Terminals & Connections: Periodically check the 3 phase wire uninsulated ring terminals and the 5-pin Hall sensor plastic connector for signs of loose contact, heat discoloration, or oxidation.
3. Brake Shoe & Cable Servicing
Adjust Drum Cable Tension: As the brake shoes wear down over time, adjust the tensioning barrel nut on the brake arm to maintain responsive stopping action and tight brake lever feel.
Inspect & Clean Drum Shoes: Every 3,000 to 5,000 km, unbolt the rear wheel to check the internal brake shoes. Blow out accumulated brake dust using compressed air and replace the shoes if the lining thickness falls below 1.5 mm.
4. Axle & Mechanical Hardware
Verify Torque on Axle Nuts: Periodically check that both axle nuts are torqued down tightly against the frame swingarm. Loose axle nuts can cause the axle to spin out and tear the motor's internal wiring harness.
Check Tire Pressure: Maintain recommended tire pressure (typically 32–36 PSI depending on load) to reduce rolling resistance and protect the motor rim against rim dents from potholes.
